Hooman Khoshnood

Attorney & Firm Founder

Hooman’s practice focuses on representing consumers and small businesses before the Bankruptcy Court. Over the past 10 years, Hooman has advised and successfully represented thousands of clients who faced financially difficult situations. Hooman comes from a diverse background and upbringing. He was brought up across the world, including Iran, Italy, Canada, and eventually settling down in the United States. He obtained both his bachelor degree in philosophy and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia. This makes him a “Double Dawg!” When he is not in the office or in court, it is quite possible that you will find him in a museum, art gallery or doing his own paintings.

Associate Attorneys

Jessica L. Casto, Managing Attorney

Ms. Casto was raised in Marietta and graduated from Kennesaw State University with a degree in Political Science in 2004. She attended Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law and received her Juris Doctorate in 2008. Ms. Casto also received Walter F. George School of Law Certificate in Advanced Legal Writing, Research, and Drafting. She moved back to Marietta and has dedicated her practice to helping people lead successful lives. She choose to practice in bankruptcy law so that she could aid in the betterment of her client’s financial situations and peace of mind. She has compassion for each client and she understands that her clients are under much stress and are worried about their future. Ms. Casto has filed and managed thousands of consumer bankruptcy cases since 2008 with great success, in addition to adversary cases against harassing creditors. She has run into clients years after their case is over and is overjoyed by hearing that they are in such a better place after she represented them. She is admitted in the Northern and Middle District of Georgia and is a member in good standing with the Georgia State Bar.

When she is not in the office or at court, you can normally find Ms. Casto watching the Steelers at the local Mexican joint or camping with bears and other wildlife! She is an avid camper and enjoys the peace of the outdoors.

Ilan Kapnek

Mr. Kapnek has been representing clients in consumer bankruptcy for his entire career but recently joined Khoshnood Law Firm in January 2015. He received his B.A. in Political Science, graduating magna cum laude from Florida Atlantic University before attending law school at Florida State University. In law school, he developed an interest in financial regulation, bankruptcy and consumer law.

Mr. Kapnek has represented bankruptcy clients in front of every judge in the Northern District of Georgia. As an attorney, he sees himself an advocate and problem-solver for clients. He tries to craft creative solutions for their issues and is committed to ensuring the best attainable outcome.

He lives with his wife and two dogs in Atlanta’s Kirkwood neighborhood. When not practicing law, Mr. Kapnek tries to find time to hone his skills in carpentry and woodworking. He is an avid reader, loves trivia, and enjoys traveling with his wife.

Mallory Velten

An Atlanta native, Mallory Velten graduated with highest honors from Georgia Tech with a degree in international affairs. She received her J.D. from the Emory University School of Law, where she served as a managing editor of the Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal. Her student comment was published in the spring 2014 edition of the journal. After being admitted to the Georgia Bar in 2014, Mallory began practicing consumer bankruptcy law, where she helps people make the best of tough situations. When not in the office or at court, Mallory enjoys knitting, playing trivia with friends, and volunteering at the animal shelter.
